I will admit I was mainly in one area of Wan Chai, but all the bars and brothels, or the suggestion of being brothels, made me want to be anywhere but wan Chair. Fortunately the MTR is nearby to do so. Late nite eating places. Bars and clubs for late nite dance but careful which bars or clubs to pick as there are few Girly bars as well.
And avoid this area when American Navies in Town. They can be real trouble makers!!!! I stayed at Wan Chai for 3 nights, however, I did not really explore at this area.
The place where I stayed have day market and they sell lot of stuff which is a good shopping area. There are dim sum place and cha chang tin Hong Kong Cafe which is famous for its polo bao. They are quite good. Apart from that, i dun know how is the night life in this area.
Other than that, the location is very near to central and also the Golden Bauhinia Square. Wan Chai is all things to all people Sure, it is Hong Kong's red light district, but that light does not turn on before dark. During the day, you will encounter nothing offensive there the focal point of Wan Chai being Lockhart Road.
To the contrary you will find good English pubs, wide array of reasonable restaurants and, to my amazement, legitimate inexpensive massage therapy places. Sure there are girlie bars, but they do not wake until dark and even then they are harmless places. Nearly all are staffed by simple, small-town girls from the Philippines who arrive in HK, work every day six months and fly home.
